Filler pipes are typically approx 6-8 feet from the original building structure, are on average 2 ¾ inches in diameter and are meant to have a screw on cap for access. Many times filler pipes are not visible as they were cut off for safety or esthetic purposes. The purpose of these pipes were to act as an access point to the oil tank for filling the Underground Storage Tanks ( UST’s).
