Why Do I Need an Oil Tank Certificate (Report)?

The most common situation that people need to get an oil tank certificate is during a property transaction.

However, there are other situations that could require you to get certification that your property does not have an existing oil tank, for example:

  • Renewal of mortgage
  • Renewal of home insurance
  • Local municipality requirements

Other than the reasons above, we feel that it is in a property owner’s best interest to be proactive about scanning their property for an oil tank .  After all, if no oil tank is found you will have peace of mind knowing that you do not have an oil tank.  On the other hand, if you do discover an oil tank on your property, you will have the opportunity to deal with the situation and mitigate or eliminate the risk of future environmental issues.

Additionally, you will be prepared for any future inquiries when you choose to sell your house or renew your mortgage or insurance.

How Do I Get an Oil Tank Detection Certificate (Report)?

Step 1: Give us a call, email us or complete a Book Your Scan form online

Step 2:  We will then go over a series of pre inspection questions that reduces the risk of anomalies in your scan and lowers the probability of exemptions in your oil tank detection certificate.

Step 3: Next we will set up an appointment.  Most times you do not have to be present during the scan.  Typically we prefer that you schedule 1-2 days in advance; however, we realize that in this fasted paced industry this cannot always happen and we do everything we can to meet your deadline.

Step 4: We will then email you a pre-invoice.  To confirm your appointment, you can make your pre-payment online by selecting pay now on the ebill that is emailed to you or you can call our office manager for pre-payment.

Step 5: Upon completing the scan our office manager can email your oil tank detection certificate to you and/or your realtor.
